Emma’s maternity leave begins on March 5th for a year. We are very fortunate in that joining the ministerial team during her leave will be Revd Dr Ian Bailey and Revd Canon John Bowes. Ian will be seconded to us from St Peter’s Henleaze for a year on a 15 hour a week basis and will work alongside Mike and the rest of the ministerial and leadership team. John is, of course well known to most of you and will be leading worship/preaching at one 8am per month and one 10.15am/11.30. Plans are now in place for covering almost all of Emma’s workload while she is away, but if you do have any concerns please do talk to any of the members of the leadership team.
We will be saying Morning Prayer every weekday morning in St Oswalds Chapel, beginning on Monday 27th Feb, at 9.30am.
Do come along and join us.
Come and join us for a quiet hour of meditation at the end of your day. No difficult practices to memorise. Every Monday. 6 – 7pm, Beginning Mon Feb 27th at the Methodist church.
Tel 9140327 if in need of reassurance or more information.
This year our Lent Course is based on a book which I think will ring bells with all of us. It’s called ‘Too busy not to pray’. Of course we probably most often express it as ‘Too busy to pray’ it’s not that we don’t want to or that we don’t intend to but life is so busy it’s really hard to find the time and space we need to pray.
This Lent Course – adapted from the book of the same name shows us that it’s precisely when we’re at our most busy when we need to pray the most. Over the course of the weeks of Lent it will gently lead us into a new way of thinking about our prayer lives and will help us make a more central place in our lives for that most important of things – spending time with God. If you’ve ever wished you could pray more or better then this is the Lent Course you have been waiting for.
We will be having small groups again and now is the time to be thinking/praying about whether you would like to lead and or host a group or whether to you plan to go to a group. The sign up sheets are now available at the back of church — PLEASE SIGN UP BY FEBRUARY 12TH. A leaflet with more information on it is available at the back if you have not already had one.
The book is Prayer: Too Busy not to Pray, cost approx. £4.99. Limited number of copies available: see Roger Holbrook to buy one.
